"The past couple years my band performed at the massive Think Pink Breast Cancer Fundraising Event, run by my good friend, Sonia Byrne.  Last year I organized and hosted the very first Diva Night 2008.  So, to  me, it only made sense to join forces with ("Fundraisr Diva") Sonia, this Mothers day and make this an event to remember!"

Featuring "Fundraiser Diva" Sonia Byrne

Sonia Byrne is a participant walker in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, September 12th & 13th, 2009. This will be her 4th time participating in this 60km walk in support of the Princess Margaret Hospital. She has been part of a team of walkers that have raised $500,000 over the past four years. Training has started and she will walk more than 350 kms to train for this very special weekend each year.

ike most Canadians, Sonia has seen the effects of breast cancer on families, friends and children around her. She is committed to helping raise the money to find the cure to end breast cancer in her lifetime. As part of her 2009 fundraising campaign she will be participating in Diva Night 2009 at Lula Lounge on May 10th, 7-10pm. Sonia is an HR Consultant in Toronto with a Business & Life Coaching practice.

Featuring "Sax Diva" Elena Kapeleris

Elena Kapeleris is a jazz saxophonist and vocalist.  After moving to Toronto, she studied saxophone jazz performance at Humber College.  Elena Kapeleris' debut CD "INTRODUCTION" is being released in March of 2009.  It features:  Elena Kapeleris on saxophone and vocals, world renowned tenor saxophonist Pat LaBarbera, Tom Juhas on guitar and Brandi Disterehft on bass. 

Besides her own jazz projects, Elena can be found playing in many diverse musical situations  (from jazz, R&B,  rock to world music).  She has also recorded on various artists albums (Winhara, Rossif Sutherland, Ronley Teper, ect) and has had her woodwind playing featured on the 2007 score for the movie "POOR BOY'S GAME", starring Danny Glover and Rossif Sutherland.
Featuring "Jazz Diva" Tracy Francis of Urban Siren

Tracy hails from Montreal,and grew up in a musical family. Having the opportunity to sing across a vast genre of music. She began performing live, in and around Montreal, as well as Internationally. Presently making her home base Toronto. Where she performs with her band “Urban Siren”
Featuring "Pop Diva" Penny Robillard aka Miss Money Penny

Starting fresh from success with the acclaimed band “Lovejoy” she moved into her solo roots and started collaborating with a variety of talented musicians around the world which is reflected in the soul of the album.

Best known for her powerful voice on stage she decided to refocus her energy behind the scenes with a softer approach and in the comfort of her own home. Taking 4 years inclusive and basically completed from her living room the feel of the album can be described as simple, soft and relaxing.

In the past a few single releases have been heard in and around the world of club land (“Talk Dirty” with JK47, “Evidence is Clear” with Aigis etc.). To date she continues to work with many dj’s and producers from all different genres.

Aside from her music career Penny was formally an industry writer/reviewer of many musical acts which have included: Tegan and Sara, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Joel Parkes, Roger Sanchez, Kenneth Thomas and festivals of many (WMC, WEMF, DEMF, Rogers Picnic, Ibiza etc.).


Featuring "Latin Diva" Guiomar Campbell

Singer and percussionist Guiomar Campbell, is a native of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and has been performing in Toronto since 1978 in various Brazilian as well as Cuban, South African, and World percussion ensembles.

Guiomar  leads the band Parabolica, a Toronto based musical group built on a foundation of Afro-Brazilian folk rhythms, bossa nova, samba, and jazz.

She also leads workshops for both adults and children in samba drumming and dancing, and is the creator of Biosync-Rhythm, a combination of dance, drumming, and yoga.

Guiomar plays a wide variety of percussion instruments from Brazil including many of those found in the Rio samba schools as well as from other regional styles.

Her passion for the music has led her to become the "Diva" of Brazilian music in the Canadian and Brazilian community of Toronto. She has performed with many top Toronto acts, including the Toronto Pops Orchestra,  Jesse Cook at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and with Grammy nominated jazz flautist Jane Bunnett as part of the Global Divas series.

Guiomar received an award for her achievement in art and culture by the ministry of Multiculturalism, Jean Augustine and the National Ethnic Press. Guiomar was also a cast member of Da Kink in My Hair, a successful Canadian play which ran at the Princess of Wales Theatre and also provided the rhythmic pulse for First Hand Woman play.

When Guiomar is not performing music she is working as a shiatsu therapist and acupuncturist at her clinic in Yorkville, Lotus Shiatsu Therapy.
